Digital Print on Aluminized Hardboard
“Formulation” is a 24x24 digital print on aluminized hardboard (2025) by Austin-based artist Larry Akers. Blending computer science with a fascination for pattern and perception, Akers creates a visually striking work that reflects both precision and artistic wonder.
“I create artwork that challenges and entices each viewer's pattern recognition sensibilities as they revel in the complexity and pure sensuality of fluidly interacting patterns and colors. I aim to stimulate viewers to appreciate their own remarkable capabilities of observation and perception. I want viewers' eyes to play. Background Ph.D. computer scientist with more than 40 years experience using formal languages, recursive functions, and all manner of computer programming patterns Studio art work since 2011, focusing on construction of 3D pieces employing moire effects, refraction and reflectivity; digital images with complex geometry rendered as 3D sculptures and 2D prints, and photography of color and pattern in water.”- Larry Akers
